Yttrotantalite (Y) | Rare Mineral Display
Yttrotantalite (Y) | Rare Mineral Display
Encased in a glass dome with wood base are lustrous tabular blackish brown crystals of rare Yttrotantalite (Y) in quartz matrix with a Norway locality.
The base is constructed of a solid wood that I finished with multiple dark walnut stains and top sealant coats. The glass dome is secured with a high quality silicone gel. Non-slip pads have been affixed to the base for a solid foundation. I have included a custom label on the bottom of the base listing the rare mineral specimen included with the locales:
YTTROTANTALITE (Y)
Locality: Høydalen, Tørdal, Drangedal, Vestfold og Telemark, Norway
(Ex. Dieter Nickolay collection)
Formula: (Y,Ca,U4+,Fe2+)2(Ta,Nb)2O8
Specimen dimensions: 2.3 cm × 3.5 cm × 1.8 cm
I will slowly be adding more of these displays over time to help fund my new mineral collecting hobby. These rare minerals were personally selected and acquired from well established collections located around the world.
