Magnetite, Chromite & Serpentine (Self-find, Analyzed) | Mineral Display Box
Affixed on top of a CONCRETE base is a stunning, complex specimen of Magnetite, Chromite & Serpentine. This was another recent self-find of mine back in August, 2025 from Everson, Washington, USA.
This listing is my first utilizing copper wire "rebar" cast into fresh concrete. The copper wire is permanently attached to the concrete, however the specimen could be unwired for further examination, if desired. I wanted to attempt another brutalist display base and it's definitely unique but im happy with how it turned out and will be further experimenting with this concept.
The display is quite dense as to be expected and sits on nice soft felt pads so it won't scratch the surface you choose to set it on. I've also finished the concrete with a poly seal coat to improve durability.
I had a chemical analysis completed by Excalibur Mineral Corp. to confirm the chemical composition of the specimen. The green matrix is Serpentine; the black inclusions are Magnetite and the metallic/glassy mineral in the vugs is Chromite (chromium ore)!
