Keiviite-(Y) [Ytterby Locality] | Concrete Rare Mineral Display
Keiviite-(Y) [Ytterby Locality] | Concrete Rare Mineral Display
Anchored to a custom, concrete base is a specimen showcasing the rare earth metal containing mineral Keiviite-(Y) from the historical locality Ytterby, Sweden!
Ex Vandenbroucke Museum collection from Waregem, Belgium.
I cast the base with fresh, high strength concrete and set copper wire "rebar" into the concrete. The wire is securely anchoring the specimen to the base.
The concrete was then coated in a couple polymer clear coats to preserve the labels and provide longevity to the display. I have affixed soft felt pads to the base of the display to protect the base and any surface that it might be placed on.
Affixed to either side of the concrete base are a 1 gram 99.9% Yttrium metal bar and a 1 gram 99.9% pure Ytterbium metal bar; both originally from Luciteria Science.
